ハワイ研修４日目：ミッドパシフィックインスティチュートと国際交流を行いました！

１２月３日（水）、ハワイ研修も４日目を迎えました。

本日は早朝より、ハワイの名門校「ミッドパシフィックインスティテュート」を訪問し、現地の生徒たちと交流を行いました。到着時には、盛大なウェルカムセレモニーで迎えていただき、生徒によるバンド演奏、キャンパスツアー、フラダンスのパフォーマンスなど、心のこもったおもてなしに、生徒たちも感激した様子でした。

４時間目の授業では、本校生徒が英語でのプレゼンテーションを行いました。学校紹介に加え、日本の文化や群馬県の魅力を紹介し、その後のアクティビティーでは異文化理解をさらに深めることができました。ランチタイムには、現地の生徒とお弁当を囲み、リラックスした雰囲気で会話が弾みました。

午後には、同校の先進的な工学系施設を見学しました。生徒が開発したゲームアプリを実際に操作させてもらったり、研究施設や学校側の支援体制について説明を受けたりと、SSH指定校である本校にとっても大変刺激的な時間となりました。 特に印象的だったのは、ミッドパック独自の「Free Time（自由時間）」というカリキュラムです。これは生徒が自身の興味に基づいて研究や勉強に充てられる時間とのことで、日本の「総合的な探究の時間」に通じる、主体的な学びの姿勢を感じることができました。

半日という短い時間でしたが、生徒たちは国境を越えた友情を育み、単なる学校訪問以上の深い絆を感じることができたようです。 温かく迎えてくださったミッドパシフィックインスティテュートの先生方、生徒の皆さんに、心より感謝申し上げます。

On December 3rd, the fourth day of our Hawaii field trip, we visited Mid-Pacific Institute.
We received a warm welcome with a ceremony featuring a band performance, followed by a campus tour led by international students. During the fourth period, our students gave presentations on Japanese culture and Gunma Prefecture, which led to a wonderful cultural exchange. The hula dance performance was amazing! We also enjoyed a great lunch with their students, having conversations.

Later, we visited the tech facilities. We were impressed by the game apps developed by their students and learned about their research environment. Mid-Pac has a unique system called "Free Time," when students can pursue their own research and studies. It reminded us of the "Period for Inquiry-Based Cross-Disciplinary Study" (Sogo Tankyu) in Japan.

It was a meaningful day where students could deepen their friendships and learn from each other. A huge thank you to the teachers and students at Mid-Pacific Institute for your hospitality!
